This book is about two African American sisters named Sarah and Susan who go visit their great-great aunt Flossie’s house on Sunday afternoons. Sarah and Susan’s favorite thing to do at their Aunt Flossie’s house is to try on her many different hats. Each hat has a story that goes with it which Aunt Flossie tells to the girls while they try the hats on. There are many stories including a great fire in Baltimore, a parade in Baltimore after the war was over, and the day that Aunt Flossie almost lost her favorite best Sunday hat. After all the stories have been told the girls always eat crab cakes with their Aunt Flossie. I really liked the pictures in this book; they looked as if they were painted and were very realistic looking. This book could be used in the classroom to show how important it is to spend time with the older generations in your family and connect with them.
