This book was about how Sea Turtles lay eggs and how many of these eggs survive while trying to reach the ocean. The mother Sea Turtle comes up onto the beach to lay her eggs, buries them in the sand, then goes back into the ocean. A Sea Turtle lays nearly one hundred eggs but only one or two of these will actually make it to maturity. The Sea Turtle eggs could be eaten by raccoons before they ever hatch or by ghost crabs as they make their way to the ocean. Also great blue heron, sharks, or sea gulls eat the sea turtles after they make it into the ocean but before they fully mature. I would use this book in the classroom to talk about how different types of animals reproduce. This book could also be used to talk about the food chain of the ocean. This book was very informative and could be used in many ways in the classroom.
